Air Serbia and “Child’s Heart” organization Ink cooperation agreement – Uniforms given a new purpose
Air Serbia, the national airline, and the “Child’s Heart” humanitarian organization today signed a cooperation agreement at the organization’s premises, formalizing a partnership focused on empowering people with developmental disabilities and promoting the principles of the circular economy.
Through this collaboration, members of the organization will create new items from used pilot and cabin crew uniforms of Air Serbia, giving the materials a new value and purpose. Parts of the former uniforms will be transformed into toiletry bags, handbags, as well as clothing for pets. Materials that were once part of journeys through the skies are now becoming a symbol of new beginnings – empowering people, caring for the community, and fostering a responsible approach to the environment. This initiative represents another step by Air Serbia in enhancing socially responsible activities and supporting sustainable development, while simultaneously strengthening inclusion and creating employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.
“We are aware of the responsibility we have as the national airline, which goes beyond simply improving our country’s connectivity to destinations around the world. We want to be a reliable partner to the community in which we operate. Cooperation with the “Child’s Heart” humanitarian organization allows us to support the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities, while also further integrating the principles of the circular economy into our business. We are proud that the uniforms are gaining a new purpose and that together we are creating value with both social and environmental impact,” said CEO Jiří Marek.
“This cooperation is of exceptional importance to us. It gives our users the opportunity to express their skills through creative work and further strengthen their self-confidence. Every item created is a story of effort, dedication, and the opportunities that open up when support and understanding are present. We are pleased that the national airline recognized the importance of inclusion and entrusted us to build a future with more sustainability and solidarity together,” said Goran Rojević.
The “Child’s Heart” humanitarian organization has existed for 25 years, actively running programs to support and include children and youth with developmental disabilities through educational, occupational, and social activities. Daily work contributes to implementing inclusion, as it is not just an idea but a way of life that emerges when everyone is given the opportunity to participate, grow, and be accepted. In February 2019, the “Sounds of the Heart” work centre and café was established, employing young people with developmental disabilities.
The partnership between Air Serbia and the “Child’s Heart” humanitarian organization will continue to develop through new joint activities aimed at empowering vulnerable groups and promoting responsible use of resources and care for the environment.
